The Beginners Photography Course is a two day Introduction to Photography workshop.
The course is taught by me, out of my home nearby to Endcliffe Park in Sheffield, S11. There will be a maximum of 6 students, allowing for plenty of 1:1 time with each student over the two day course. We will spend time both inside learning and on location in the area practising the topics covered.
The course will cover the following topics:
- Principles of photography
- Camera resolution
- File formats (JPG, RAW, TIFF)
- Different lenses/focal lengths
- Manual vs autofocus (focusing points, autofocus lock, single & continuous focus)
- The exposure triangle
- ISO, shutter speeds, aperture and how to use the light meter
- Metering modes
Requirements/Equipment needed for the course:
Digital Camera (DSLR or Mirrorless/Bridge) with Manual Exposure Mode. Students will need to bring their camera manual and may want a pen/paper to make any notes. Each student will be emailed the course materials at the end of the weekend.
By the end of the module students will be able to use their camera in fully manual mode, understand the principles of aperture, shutter speed, focal length and focus, and create strong images on their own.
The course runs over two days, Saturday and Sunday, 10am-4:00pm with a short morning/afternoon break and an hour break for lunch. Tea/Coffee/Soft drinks and selection of pastries will also be available.
